Dr Okun has over 20 years of experience as a doctor; She completed her medical training at the university of Cape Town, she then went on to specialize in Family Medicine graduating with Cum Laude.

She feels privileged to work in a profession where she can be of service to people and chose to specialize in family medicine as she enjoys the holistic approach to healthcare approaching each consultation in a thorough and comprehensive manner and developing trusting relationships with her patients.

She has been described as; “One of the most compassionate doctors I have ever met!” by the Head of Neurology at a local tertiary hospital. Dr Okun has spent the greater part of her career in the state sector where she gained an abundance of experience working in clinics and hospitals across Cape Town, holding many senior and dynamic roles to mention a few :

She was the Clinical manager/ Senior Consultant at the Woodstock Day Hospital. Following this she led the clinical commissioning of the new state-of-the-art multi-story clinic in the heart of the CBD called District 6 Clinic. Once the clinic opened she was appointed as clinical manager and senior clinician of the clinic; leading the clinical team which serviced over 10 000 patients per month.

During the Covid-19 pandemic she worked in the largest Covid-19 field hospital in Africa based at the Convention Centre in Cape Town. Working at a field hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic was a very special experience for her. It was a challenging time, but it was also a growing experience. The work she did there was so important, and it made her appreciate the resilience of humanity even in the darkest of times. She will cherish this experience forever, and will always remember the lessons she learned and the people she met. It proved the true value of teamwork and dedication, and she feels grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it. A study which Dr Okun formed part of and highlights this ; https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9032/11/7/981 Following the closure of the field hospital she played an essential role in the Western Cape’s Covid outbreak response team, offering clinical oversight and management to the Department of Health’s most extensive telehealth COVID-19 project, where she gained extensive experience in the field of Telehealth.

With her experience and passion for health care Dr Okun brings to you Wellness 4 Life. She is passionate about promoting and sustaining health and well-being by focusing on keeping her patients healthy rather than waiting for illness and complications to occur, by which time it can be too late to have a significant impact on their health.

By providing health and wellness screening services; Dr Okun helps individuals and organizations improve their overall health and well-being. Placing particular emphasis on women’s health-related conditions as well as chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes which arise from lifestyle factors.

Dr Okun also offers general medical care, caring for patients of all ages, including children, adults and the elderly and treats a wide variety of conditions from acute medical care, to women’s health related conditions to mental health conditions.
